Hindsight is 20/20 but staying with Ten Kate was a bad move. I said from the off that I doubt Honda would take him to MotoGP. Honda didn't take Colin who won 2 WSBK titles for them or JT who was far more popular and won a title for them. The only superbike riders that I can think of that Honda has taken to MotoGP in the last decade or so were Nicky who was forced upon them from US Honda and Tamada who was the All Japan champ and Honda factory rider. With Bradl showing promise and Marquez in the wings, sadly I don't see a place for Rea within Honda MotoGP.
The Ten Kate model might have worked in years past but it is now dated. The only way that Ten Kate will be fighting for WSBK titles is from massive help from Honda. Honda has been not been interesed in WSBK for years. With them winning MotoGP last year and Yamaha pulling out of WSBK I don't see this changing.
