Assen race 1 was far wetter, so it has to be possible to create tyres which could cope with these conditions. The whole thing's a farce and Pirelli have made themselves look ridiculous. I can't help suspect that Max Biaggi's input while being taken around the course in the safety car might have had a say in this, considering that he wasn't able to race anyway.
