"another round" summed it up. Anyone bagging the R1 has never actually ridden one! They're just looking at the specs. It is a fantastic bike. BUT just like the heading, I think that it is actually correct. The newer bikes are more powerful, lighter, etc and have more bells and whistles. So people do buy the best machine they can afford (eg. the Aprilla, the Duke, etc). All that said I would much prefer to ride the R1 than for example the Kwaka, even though its slower... that sound is orgasmic! Which one would I actually buy as a 2013 spec? with no changes to the R1 at all, thats a different story.
