Can't see Effenbert coming back, but the general consensus is that the grid will plateau at about 19, with two Pedercini Kawasakis and a BMW ridden by Ivan Clementi still to be confirmed.
Seems a shame that a championship which enjoyed its most competitive season in a decade last year is shrinking before our eyes.
Then again, I still rate a 16-strong WSBK grid over a three-tier MotoGP championship.
