I'm very torn on this, if I'm honest. Something needs to be done to boost grid numbers, but I hope Dorna aren't going to dumb down WSBK too much just for the purpose of elevating its MotoGP interests.
Furthermore, you have to wonder whether WSBK's reputation/calibre will suffer by going 'backwards' to stock specification. Could you imagine any MotoGP riders like Biaggi/Melandri/Checa going to WSBK if the difference between the series grow into a chasm? It won't do their career reps much of a favour.
From the other side, will the likes of Sykes/Rea/Laverty want to stick around if winning in WSBK is perceived to be less prestigious than it was?
A stock-type grid would probably elevate grid numbers, but what type of rider/team would it end up attracting?
