I don't agree with having a Micky Mouse race just for the sake of it but I do understand that if the sponsorship has dried up in the usual markets then you need to look elsewhere.
Everyone moans that Spain has so many rounds of MotoGP but they also have the top riders in the world and the oil giant Repsol.
It's also a great fly away destination for many foregin supporters. I've been to Le Mans once and Valencia three times, for instance. In Le Mans it rained non-stop and despite arriving early Saturday morning with my camping paid for, it was full up.
If motorsport is going to survive it either needs to become cheaper, find new sponsors or raise it's profile to the extent where it rivals F1 or football in the UK.
