Actually Rod I bet 99% of road riders have lost traction if they ride anything with over 50hp and have ever ridden in the wet... ..but that's another story. I've just come back from 4 days at Almeria where Pedercini Kawasaki were testing (amongst others)and Tito Rabat put some early laps in on a CBR600. The superstock ZX10R with treaded tyres was perhaps 2 seconds the WSBK? Rabat went faster than them all on what was effectively a supersport bike with Dunlop slicks. What I'm trying to say is that modern bikes are fast enough without having to spend a fortune and at a time where money is tight it makes absolute sense for superbikes to better mirror road/stock bikes. Of course they should keep slicks but I'm 100% in favour of 17 inch wheels and restrictions on non OE electronics and serious tuning. Piggyback ECU (like a Bazzaz or Power Commander) should be plenty, and a mildy tuned 1000 should still make a reliable 205bhp.
