Crafar's win at Donington was magestic, I was there that day and he completely eclipsed Mick Doohan it is irrelevant that the Dunlops where the better tyre he was just the better rider that day.
During hs WSBK career he struggled on the outdated Muzzy Kawaski but was robbed of a win in Indonisia in 97 when Kocinski torpedoed him in the secocond to last turn after he had lead most of the race.
He was always a very good devopment rider, he did wonders with the dog crap Rumi Honda RC45 when Slight and Pollan struggled with it.
At the end of the day any experience or guidance is a bonus for these guys.
