WSBK's been around 25 years. what you mean to say is... 500cc wanted to beat production so bad that 12 years ago they dumped their glorious 2T history for 4T. imitation is the sincerest form of flattery don't ya know. :) and then after a few years of reasonable success with this, they (he) realized this change didn't have the effect of enriching $$ just THEM as he had hoped. this change ALSO had a knock-on benefit to his competition (ie. WSBK). all the exquisite technology and lessons the factories were learning from grandprix were being HOMOLOGATED and showing up over in production racing (see entry for R1, RSV4, zed10, panigale, etc). aaahhh...!!! hemorrhaging of the ridership had already begun (barros, biaggi, melandri, nakano, checa, etc). MY GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE...!? (david byrne, talking heads voice)
