Sebastien Charpentier dominated second free practice at Qatar, on board his Winston Ten Kate Honda. The improved weather helped the reigning World Supersport Champion lap in 2mins 05.051sec, 0.7secs ahead of his new young team mate, Kenan Sofuoglu.
Sofuoglu held provisional pole over night and looks set to stay high up in the qualifying ranks. He was ahead of Yamaha Germany's highly experienced team of Kevin Curtain and Broc Parkes, who occupied third and fourth places respectively.
Adopted Brit, Dean Thomas had a good session improving on his position from the rain soaked session on Thursday. Unfortunately a technical fault saw him run off track at the end of free practice. “It was a mechanical fault but it will be ok for second qualifying,” said the affable Aussie “My aim is top fifteen I was up to twelfth during that session. I want to be on the first three rows so I can move forward in the race. So at the moment I'm not too bothered,” he concluded.
Tom Tunstall also improved during dry free practice, “We are really starting from scratch today, I need to have a run around the track on a scooter to learn it better,” he said. “The track is awesome, really wide and flowing. I've a lot of new things to deal with this weekend – the Pirellis I'm running have a new profile, I've got new suspension settings and of course the circuit is new to me too!” he exclaimed.
All that said he is making headway, “We've made good progress and when I know the track better I will enjoy it more. I'm now looking to move up the field and my aim is to get some points,” he finished.
