Yamaha Germany's Broc Parkes led the way around the twisting Misano circuit ahead of round six of the World Supersport Championship.
The fast Australian enjoys racing at Misano and usually runs well here, his team-mate Kevin Curtain finished the session in a healthy fourth place.
Yoann Tiberio on the Megabike Honda took up second place with Massimo Roccoli in third. Former GP rider, Simone Sanna, who is replacing the injured Katsuaki Fujiwara was running in fifth place.
The Winston Ten Kate riders improved on their positions from yesterday, with Kenan Sofuoglu up to eighth place and his temporary team-mate Arie Vos running in sixteenth. Vos usually races in Holland for Ten Kate and is currently leading the Supersport and Superbike championship there.
There were a few fallers at the start of the session one of which was Gianluca Vizziello, he was unhurt and finished the session tenth. The session was red flagged briefly when William De Angelis' machine started smoking and looked like it was about to burst into flames. He opted to ride onto the gravel land lay the machine down allowing the marshals to deal with it.
