Troy Bayliss means business this weekend in Germany and started out by heading the time sheets during first free practice at the Eurospeedway ahead of round ten of the Corona Extra Superbike World Championship.
The Xerox Ducati rider ducked under the 1min 39secs lap time with a healthy 1min 38.675secs. Hot on his heels was defending Champion Troy Corser on the Alstare Corona Extra Suzuki, who needs to regroup following a double DNF at Assen last weekend.
Andrew Pitt, who is quickly turning into a consistent podium finisher, was running in third place. Karl Muggeridge was on the pace and finished the session in fourth place whilst his team-mate James Toseland ended in seventh. Both Winston Ten Kate riders had a difficult time at Assen and are hoping to run at the front this weekend to make amends.
Last year Lorenzo Lanzi took his first World Superbike win when he stood in for the injured Regis Laconi, he was lapping in sixth and is likely to be a contender at the flowing German circuit.
