Mark Aitchison

Mark Aitchison

With only a few minor credits at World Supersport level, Mark Aitchison was a surprise choice for Pedercini Kawasaki in 2011, but the Australian rose to the challenge. Spending the first-half of the season adapting to the satellite ZX-10R, which has struggled in many hands over the years, Aitchison put in some giant-killing performances at times in 2011, particularly in qualifying when he made Superpole on more occasions than anyone would expect. Two top ten finishes were his reward, though even better finishes at the Nurburgring (possibly a top six) and at Silverstone were ruined by costly falls. Regardless, Aitchison rightly earned himself a spot on the WSBK grid in 2011 when many expected him to bring up the rear.
