Thonon continues KZ2 title march.

Jonathan Thonon took a major step towards the inaugural WSK World Series KZ2 title with an undefeated weekend in the second round of the 2010 championship in New Jersey.
Jonathan Thonon all but wrapped up the inaugural WSK World Series KZ2 Gearbox title with a faultless performance in the second round of the championship at the Millville circuit in New Jersey.

The Belgian CRG driver went undefeated all weekend around the meandering 1660-metre Milville circuit, setting the pace over the rest of the 16-strong field in timed qualifying and never looking back.
Six hundredths quicker than Tonykart's Rick Dreezen and two tenths faster than Marco Ardigo in qualifying Thonon beat his countryman Dreezen by nine tenths in heat one and headed home Ardigo by nearly two seconds in heat two.

On home soil, Gary Carlton ran Thonon close in the third and final heat and finished just half a second behind his CRG teammate but neither he, Ardigo or anyone else could prevent Thonon from winning the pre-final by more than a second, which put the championship leader on pole for the final.

Despite Carlton's best efforts Thonon remained a class apart in the main final, winning by 1.7-seconds from the American driver with Dreezen nearly five seconds back in third, Ardigo fourth and Dutch lady racer Beitske Visser completing the top five.

In the championship standings Thonon leads Carlton by 55 points with only 75 available from the third and final round of the series at Sharm El Sheik in Egypt. While the battle for the title may be non-existent, Carlton has his hands full in the scrap for second with Dreezen just one point behind him and Ardigo not out of it either in fourth.
