That was a great debut ! His pass on Scassa was beautiful. And a rush to the line, well, thats how you learn Phillip Island !

Interesting to see now, he's probably thinking he can win donington park

good luck to him

and thanks for the fight !!!

4. Cal Crutchlow GBR Yamaha SSP YZF R6 +1.097s
5. Eugene Laverty IRL Parkalgar Honda CBR600RR +1.098s

The results from 2009. Same bikes, different riders and a few places further back.

It's interesting to hear Simon Buckmaster saying that the Parkalgar Honda was good everywhere on track when it was obviously a snail down the start finish straight. The other riders were passing Sam before the finish line without a slipstream earlier on in the race. I think Sam did his part, and with a few extra bhp, he would have sailed over the line in 1st place. I think the team Manager should acknowledge that.

Well done Sam!

NEB - very interesting, but it doesn't tell us anything about the riders - Pirelli may have improved the grip of the tyre or the circuit conditions could be different. I remember one year when a 250 GP race, despite almost no bike development, was run 30 seconds quicker than the year before and both were dry races.

Re Lowes lack of speed on the straight - that might be down to gearing rather than bhp.

Excellent ride, scuppered only by lack of straightline speed - couldn't even pass the Yam when he was in the slipstream.

Given his relative lack of experience, ride of the day for me.

New track, new team, new bike, first race against more experienced riders, and almost a victory! credit where credits due. He clearly has what it takes and is a certain title contender.

Its difficult for us to comment on the bike as a package as we dont know what gearing or set there using. But yes it was clear that he was struggling for speed down the straights.

Yet another talented Brit right up there! Im looking forward to round 2 now!

He was let down by Honda power again. Interesting Simon said it was Sams fault for going in to hot into the last corner. They sailed past him every time on the more powerfull bikes. Top ride Sam. Hopefully more power for you in the future.
