WSS » Assen a one-off for race winner Lanzi?

Lorenzo Lanzi isn't included on the World Supersport entry list for Monza, despite his remarkable ride to victory on his series comeback at Assen for ProRace Honda.

I'm afraid that was a lucky win by Lanzi which doesn't really tell us anything about pace. Lanzi can ride like a god, but other days he barely turns up, as a team owner I wouldn't like to take the risk.

I think it wasn't the decision of the team. This little Czech set-up can be happy with any top 15 finish, they would be crazy to turn down a race winner. This must have been Lanzi's decision. Maybe he waits for a bigger offer (Kawasaki WSB?), or he just don't want to spoil his Supersport statistic: one race/one win.

I suspect its down to money, or lack of it on Lanzi's part, to buy the ride.

You're talking in the region of 15 grand sterling to pay for a one off ride in supersport, without good personal sponsors its just not viable.

pp916 - nail on head, i think there.
In the race commentary, they mentioned a conversation with Lanzi, where he said he's not been able to race for a couple of years because he's not got enough money.

Great shame, as he was potentially a very good racer. Maybe not top 5 WSBK, but certainly competitive & worthy of a full time ride in either WSS or WSBK.

Money wasnt a problem. Prorace declared that they have bugdet for whole season covered and dont need anything from rider. Lanzi refused the ride because he just didnt like riding a 600 bike and felt he wouldnt be competitve on a dry track.

This is an info from Czech servers.

wow, not a good move on either side. it is supposed to rain in Monza this weekend. but Dionisi is a good rider and could easily top-5 at Monza.
