pcxmac, that is absolute nonsense. A bang into the side of the fairing will do little, but the slightest touch on the end of the handlebar will have the countersteering causing the bike to change direction rapidly even taking into account the inertia involved. If that change in direction brought the bikes closer together then carnage ensues. Not to mention the possibility of brake lever contact.

How do I know? I have a knackered shoulder as a result of this type of contact in a race, albeit the cause being entirely innocent as opposed to pre-meditated. Also a guy in our club lost his life when two bikes came into contact down a straight.

For those with the memory capacity of a gnat....there have been just as many people protesting at the actions of Marquez as are currently with Kenan.....there have been times when Marquez has deliberately cut up another rider eg Luthi, but his clash with Espagaro was more a case of being oblivious to those around him and not looking before resuming his line....Kenan on the other hand, regardless of whether he was 'provoked' by Foret off camera, performed an act of reckless violence toward another competitor and he needs to be properly sanctioned for that as well as explaining himself. At the moment there is no explanation and therefore it would appear to be an impetuous ill tempered act....in such a dangerous sport it cannot be acceptable for a cometitor to behave that way and thereby endanger himself, fellow riders and trackside officials/marshalls.

may be i could agree with you, smokin. but what I see in motosport industry there is a little bit inconsistency, ferrari controlling FIA and some other things, in motogp, how could you explain why dorna/FIM suddenly drop the rookie rules for the next season? the rookie rules is actually made to help smaller teams to have a great rider and the factory team would support the satellite team with a great bike too. and we know motogp needs something to help itself to avoid the boring competition due to the lack of competitive bikes. and this change of rule did not reflect that. the way i see is honda and repsol are controlling dorna/FIM, they want to help marquez rides the factory bike, am I wrong?

"what happen if valentino rossi did what kenan did? Posted by graham"
What a ridiculous scenario!
Rossi didn't, and AFAIK never has made such a move, nor is he likely to.
You can't base a discussion of factual acts on "what if's".
IF my Auntie had a **** she'd be my Uncle.
IF you had a reasonable arguement we would have heard it by now.
IF there is a forum for NASCAR you may feel more at home there.

Repsol Honda always have a spanish rider because repsol want that. gibernau, criville, pedrosa. pedrosa never wins a world title but why is he still there? It's so sad to see a grat rider like randy de puniet never had a competitive bike. but motogp is very different now, your sponsor and your country determine your seat

Graham

You say MotoGP is different now, but look at the riders you've put in your last post! Gibernau and Criville were riding for Repsol in the mid 90s, almost 20 years ago now. It's the way MotoGP is and has been for a long time.

"your sponsor and your country determine your seat Posted by graham"
There's a degree of truth in that, but it's nothing to do with the subject of this debate, which is Sofuoglo having surgery.
Personally, I determine my own seat, and in 5 minutes it will be on my bike, heading for Barton Bike Night with about 10,000 other bikers.
