WSBK » Checa: I expected to take a step forward…

Alstare Ducati's woes with the 1199 Panigale continue as Carlos Checa fails to crack the top ten in either race at Imola.

I thought the bike was all up to spec now with full diameter throttle bodies? Surely it should be blowing them away no? Maybe there is just too much low down torque? Who knows? one thing is clear though it is just not fair what ever the problem Ducati's have a right to be winning!

re: "I thought the bike was all up to spec now with full diameter throttle bodies?"

it is.

re: "Surely it should be blowing them away no?"

no. but maybe there's a take away...? could it be there's actually MORE to making a bike go fast than the laymen's single-minded fascination with HP...? something to consider.

re: "Maybe there is just too much low down torque?

oops, you're thinking of the 1198F12. that's the OLD kit that kicked a$$ and took names.

re: "Who knows?"

re: "Ducati's have a right to be winning! "

this kid's got potential.

@ Jambop

Don't worry, I caught the sarcasm, but at the same time:

@ Shamarone

TBH, I think, were this bike a straight 1000cc, it would do much better. The one thing I never understood, was, why allow them 200cc, but then restrict them? Just make everyone use the same size engine and if they insist on using a V2, it's their prerogative to make it work. But there's something NOT right with this bike.

re: "were this bike a straight 1000cc, it would do much better..."

...and cost much more.

re: "The one thing I never understood, was, why allow them 200cc, but then restrict them?"

placate the other teams.

re: "Just make everyone use the same size engine"

oops, you've stumbled into the wrong forum. don't know what browser you're using...? but if you look up at the top of the page, you should see a tab for MOTOGP. click on it. and you'll be all set. :)

re: "But there's something NOT right with this bike".

yeah, the simultaneous Rossi debacle and the VW buy out was a "double whammy" that arrested this kits development.

re: "All is not looking good in Ducati land, be it MotoGP or WSB."

it's not a stretch to say this is only the worst weekend EVER. it's one thing to not do well at relatively new tracks like say Aragon...? or Austin...?

but what we have here is rubbish at Assen and Imola, easily 2 of the OLDEST circuits in existence. :(

like I commented at the start of this past weekend, somebody's gotta make a decision...? and there are worse things they could do than to follow my advice.

Latest press release from Ducati:
Owing to the poor results from our latest WSB 1199 Panigale we are requesting that there are some changes to the rules so as to allow us to carry on claiming to be the best sports bike in the world.
1. Kawasaki should have to carry a 10 kg bag of cement on their motorcycles. In fairness we will not dictate the location of the bag. we will leave this up to Kawasaki.
2. Aprilia are blatantly too fast in a straight line so we feel it is fair that they remove one spark plug for the duration of each race. We do not feel this is too severe a restriction.
3. BMW, as everyone knows can't build sport bikes and as this championship is for Ducati and must be won by Ducati we feel that BMW's should be forced to carry panniers and and use knobbly tyres.
4. Honda have long been known for innovation and so as to allow them to continue in this vain we feel that the must be forced to use fully automatic transmissions limited to 3 gears.
5. Suzuki, whilst not being on

5. Suzuki, whilst not being on the pace at the moment are gaining ground. To ensure that they remain behind Ducati we are requesting they be forced to use stabiliser wheels that restricts the the angle of lean to a maximum of 49 degrees.

We feel these requirements are fair and proportionate and are not anymore restrictive than the regulation against are competitors have been over the years.
Everyone know that the purpose of WSB is to promote the idea that Ducati build the best sports bikes in the world. It has always been so and we strongly protest that at present , if the other manufactures continue to show up the Panigale, our sales to born again bikers will be hit. We have relied on WSB to impress the more money than sense bikers to pay for our vastly overpriced products so they can ride 1000km a year dressed in red leather and and believe that they are on the best production bikes in the world. Anyway our bikes are beautiful and that is reason enough for us to be allowed to win.

These instruction are also being sent to MotoGP as the present situation there is not acceptable.

P.S. Ducati are a about to offer price reductions across the range, so you to can ride the best sportbikes in the world!
