Luca Scassa has taken pole position for the second round of the World Supersport Championship at Donington Park as his Q1 time proved good enough to retain the top spot.
The cold conditions ensured only some of the riders improved on their Q1 efforts, though significantly this didn't include Scassa and Sam Lowes, the latter missing much of the session after falling heavily from the Parkalgar Honda at Craner Curves.
Instead, it was Chaz Davies that got closest, the Yamaha ParkinGO rider almost overhauling his team-mate with his last gasp effort, the Briton instead settling for second just 18 hundredths adrift.
Lowes will start in third position for his home race, while Broc Parkes was another improver to snatch the front row spot from Kawasaki team-mate David Salom.
Alongside Salom, Gino Rea and James Ellison made it four Britons on the front two rows in sixth and eighth, the pair being split by Robbin Harms on the Harms Benjan Honda.
Florian Marino upheld Ten Kate Honda honours in ninth position, the Frenchman being joined on track by his team-mate Fabien Foret, though the injured rider struggled in the session itself and is classified 12th on the grid. Massimo Roccoli and Vladimir Ivanov will start between them.
As well as Lowes, there were falls for Ivanov, Miguel Praia, Danilo Dell'Omo and Mitchell Pirotta.
