Chaz Davies improved his personal best finish with a run to second position during the Donington Park round of the World Supersport Championship, the local rider missing out on victory by just 0.3secs
The ParkinGO Yamaha trailed his team-mate Luca Scassa throughout the race, Davies's efforts to pass the Italian limited to a lunge at Redgate on the final lap.
When that attempted failed to succeed, he settled for what nonetheless remains his best finish at World Supersport level.
A good boost following his unfortunate retirement in Phillip Island, Davies was pleased to be part of Yamaha's first 1-2 result in Supersports since 2007.
“A 1-2 win for the team is an amazing result,” he said. “This shows how strong the package is. With four laps to go I closed in on Luca and tried to get the nose in wherever I could but he was so consistently strong everywhere that it was difficult to pin him at any one point.
“I had a stab at passing him on the last lap but didn't succeed. I envisioned two blue bikes on the ground and that's certainly not what we wanted. I want to thank Yamaha and all my team who have worked very hard to make up for the disappointing race in Phillip Island.”
