Chaz Davies leads the World Supersport Championship for the first time in his career after completing his dominant Monza weekend with a lights-to-flag victory.
The Welshman led every lap of the Monza race, and scored the fastest lap, concluding a weekend in which he was not headed at any stage.
His second consecutive victory – as well as a fourth win from four races for the ParkinGO Yamaha team – Davies was delighted with the result, one that sees him level with team-mate Luca Scassa at the head of the standings.
"I feel very good, for the first time I am in the top of the world championship classification. I managed to put a gap from the beginning of the race. I have pushed very hard during the 16 laps and once I knew I had a good enough advantage I tried to slow down a bit and don't do any mistakes.
“I am very happy to get another victory and I would like to thank all my team for the excellent work done during the weekend."
Davies heads to the next WSS round at Misano in the knowledge that Scassa will not compete after being given a one-race ban [see separate story]
