Lowes pleased with second WSS podium

Sam Lowes was pleased to claim a second career WSS podium at Misano, even if he was unable make the very best from his maiden pole position.
Sam Lowes refused to be disappointed at being unable to turn his maiden World Supersport Championship pole position into a first win, the Briton instead happy to complete a podium result.

Lowes felt he had the pace to lead from the front after qualifying, but a tardy start left him down in fifth and embroiled in a lengthy battle with David Salom.

Though the Parkalgar Honda rider eventually got past the Spaniard, it was too late for him to do anything about leaders Broc Parkes and Fabien Foret. Even so, Lowes was able to snatch third from Ilario Donisi late on for only his second career WSS podium.

"I didn't make the best start and the riders around me were going very well. When I did get stuck in, everyone else was on the pace so it was hard to make passes. I made a few mistakes and couldn't close down Broc or Fabien. Anyway, I am happy with third; I am back on to the podium and now I can move forward from here."

Lowes, who broke his collarbone in an accident at Assen earlier this season, is up to seventh in the overall standings.
