Lowes goes fastest in second practice

The Parkalgar Honda rider will look to replicate his FP2 pace in Q2 later today as he targets pole position on home soil.
Sam Lowes has given his World Supersport Championship rivals something to think about ahead of final qualifying after dominating second free practice at Silverstone with the fastest lap time of the weekend thus far.

Lowes currently sits second on the provisional grid, behind Gino Rea, but his FP2 effort of 2mins 09.019secs is already three tenths under what his rival achieved in Q1.

Furthermore, Lowes was a good eight tenths quicker than anyone else, with Ten Kate Honda duo Florian Marino and Fabien Foret giving chase in a distant second and third.

Having qualified provisionally outside the top ten, Broc Parkes made substantial gains in FP2 to set the fourth best time, ahead of current pole sitter Rea, while David Salom, Chaz Davies and Roberto Tamburini followed in sixth, seventh and eighth.

Robbin Harms and two-time race winner Luca Scassa followed up in ninth and tenth, while James Ellison was 12th fastest after losing time due to a crash early on in the session.
