Luca Scassa continued his good form around the Imola circuit as he topped the timesheets once more during second free practice.
The ParkinGO Yamaha rider sealed provisional pole position yesterday and continued along the same lines in FP2, out-pacing Kawasaki's Broc Parkes and his team-mate Chaz Davies.
Local favourite Roberto Tamburini made it a good session for Yamaha in fourth position aboard the Bike Service R6, ahead of Sam Lowes, who bounced back to fifth after crashing during Q1.
Fabien Foret and David Salom, Davies's closest rivals for the WSS title, were sixth and seventh fastest, ahead of Florian Marino, Massimo Roccoli and Alexander Lundh.
James Ellison crept up the timesheets to go 11th best, while Gino Rea completed his first laps of the weekend on the way to the 17th quickest time.
