Broc Parkes has taken his second consecutive World Supersport Championship pole position after edging out Luca Scassa by just two thousandths of a second at Magny-Cours.

The Australian, who started from the top spot at Imola on the way to third place in the race, steadily lowered his best as the Q2 session progressed, though it took time for him to surpass Massimo Roccoli's excellent provisional marker of 1min 41.490secs.

Eventually, it was Scassa that demoted his countryman down a spot when he burst to the front with a 1min 41.397secs in the closing stages, only for Parkes to sneak ahead with a 1min 41.395secs.
