Parkes fastest for Ten Kate Honda

Broc Parkes switches to Ten Kate Honda for post-season testing in Portugal as Lorenzini gets ready to take over Kawasaki's official entry.
Broc Parkes set the pace on the first day of post-season World Supersport testing at Portimao as he joined Ten Kate Honda for an outing on its bike.

The Australian, who rode the Provec Motocard.com Kawasaki in 2011, set an unofficial best lap time on 1min 45.8secs aboard the CBR600RR ridden by Florian Marino and Fabien Foret this season.

He was two tenths quicker than Sheridan Morais, who put in a good time aboard the Lorenzini Kawasaki, the South African getting a chance on the ZX-6R after a season competing with the Italian outfit in the Superstock 1000 series. Lorenzini will take over Kawasaki's official WSS entry in 2012.

Just five riders set a lap time, with Ten Kate's Superstock 600 rider Michael Van Der Mark was third quickest on the Supersport machine, while his rival Josh Day was fourth as he sampled the Lorenzini Kawasaki. Santiago Barragan also lapped on the Provec Motocard.com Kawasaki in fifth.

Ben1, I'm pretty sure Marino is staying for a second season with Ten Kate in WSS, but bringing in parkes to replace Foret seems like a smart move on Ten Kates' side, Foret will be 39 next season, Parkes will be only 30 I think Parkes will be top 3 next season. And for van der Mark, this could be just a reward and a look to the future for such a good season in SuperStock600 where he finished 3rd with 4 wins, my money is on Marino+Parkes pairing for 2012.
