Disappointing end but Lowes confirms return

19 October 2011

Sam Lowes and Parkalgar Honda will target the 2012 World Supersport Championship once more after agreeing an extension to his contract.

Lowes moved to the WSS series full-time in 2011 after winning the British Supersport crown, the youngster signalling his arrival by almost winning the season opener at Phillip Island.

Going on to prove a consistent front runner aboard the CBR600RR, though Lowes would end the season with six podiums to his name, plus a pole position at Misano, he didn't quite reach the top of the rostrum.

Nonetheless, having retired from a podium position at Portimao, Lowes is looking forward to preparing for his renewed challenge in 2012, particularly with ParkinGO graduating to World Superbikes and Kawasaki's factory effort switching to Lorenzini.

"I am absolutely gutted not to finish. I felt good, my Parkalgar Honda was great and I was within touching distance of Chaz in the lead. I was pushing hard and simply lost the front. I am disappointed just as much for Parkalgar as I would have loved to have won my first race here at our home track.

“It's been a good learning season and a big thank you to all my team and the supporters at Parkalgar - and of course to my fans, we will be back on it."
