DeltaFin Lorenzini maintained Kawasaki's impressive start to the second day of track action at Phillip island as Kenan Sofuoglu and Sheridan Morais locked out the top two positions during second World Supersport practice.
Hot on the heels of Tom Sykes's impressive Q2 performance on the Kawasaki Superbike, Sofuoglu and Morais took their ZX-6R machine to the head of the Supersport practice timesheets, even if lap times were substantially slower than yesterday.
Nonetheless, at just a hundredth slower than Sofuoglu, second place marks a big improvement for South African racer Morais, who has struggled to match his team-mate so far. It was a sentiment shared by Pawel Szkopek, who was another unfamiliar face in third place, just ahead of his better fancied PTR stablemate Sam Lowes in fourth.
The Bogdanka backed pair headed Fabien Foret and Roberto Tamburini, the latter making good strides with Superstock graduates Lorini Honda for sixth fastest.
Having been overshadowed by team-mate Balazs Nemeth so far this weekend, Imre Toth grabbed some of the spotlight for himself with a run to seventh place, ahead of Mathew Scholtz, Q1 standout Jules Cluzel and Vladimir Leonov.
Further back, provisional pole sitter Broc Parkes was a lowly 14th fastest, more than a second off the pace.
