Valentin Debise is to follow in the wheeltracks of countryman Jules Cluzel when he makes his World Supersport Championship debut at Assen this weekend, the Frenchman the latest rider to make the jump from Moto2.
The 20-year-old competed in the first two seasons of the Moto2 World Championship, firstly with WTR (itself now competing in WSS) in 2010 and then HP Tuenti Speed Up in 2011.
However, having failed to notch up points in either season, Debise was unable to land a ride in the series for 2012, prompting his move to the World Supersport series in place of Ondrej Jezek at SMS Honda for the third round of the season.
Debise's arrival makes him the latest rider with Moto2 experience to switch to WSS this year, following on from PTR Honda rider Jules Cluzel, Suriano Triumph's Alex Baldolini and Yakhnich Yamaha's Vladimir Leonov.
Debise won't be the only unfamiliar face competing at Assen, with Stuart Voskamp and Twan Van Poppel bolstering the grid numbers on their wild-card entries, while former WSBK race winner Lorenzo Lanzi will also be making an appearance aboard the ProRace Honda.
