Sylvain Barrier's quest to make it three Superstock 1000 wins on-the-trot got off to a perfect start during first free practice at Monza as he led a clear BMW Italia 1-2.
The Frenchman has already established a comfortable lead in the overall standings with victory in the opening two rounds, form he hinted at again during FP1 as he put half a second between himself and his closest competition.
Assuming that status was Barrier's team-mate Lorenzo Baroni, the Italian himself another three tenths ahead of the Barni Ducati pairing of Lorenzo Savadori and Eddi La Marra.
Swedish rider Christoffer Bergman headed up Kawasaki's challenge in fifth place on the BWG ZX-10R, ahead of Alpha BMW rider Markus Reiterberger, Marco Bussolotti on the ageing Ducati 1098R, Matthieu Lussiana, Bryan Staring and Jeremy Guarnoni.
Elsewhere, title challenge Loris Baz could only manage the 12th fastest time on the MRS Kawasaki after suffering fall during the latter stages of the session.
