Broc Parkes has sent out a warning signal to his World Supersport Championship rivals by topping second free practice at Monza.

The Australian, who is still looking for his first win of the season aboard the Ten Kate Honda, got his best time down to 1min 48.076, four tenths adrift of Sam Lowes's provisional pole position lap from Q1, but comfortably ahead of the competition in FP2.

Heading up a Honda 1-2-3, Parkes ended the session in front of Jules Cluzel, who progressed to a fine second place despite losing time in the closing stages with a crash, while PTR counterpart Lowes followed him closely in third position.

Kenan Sofuoglu was fourth fastest aboard the DeltaFin Kawasaki, marginally ahead of fellow ZX-6R riders Stefano Cruciani on the wild-card Puccetti machine and Sheridan Morais on the second of the Lorenzini-prepared DeltaFin bikes.

Though he suffered technical issues early in the session, rookie Mathew Scholtz hit back for a fine seventh fastest, edging out series leader Fabien Foret, leading Yamaha rider Massimo Roccoli and Imre Toth.
