Jules Cluzel headed up a Honda 1-2-3-4 in second free practice for the World Supersport Championship at Misano after posting his flying lap in the closing seconds.

The French WSS rookie, who has been building a title challenge since taking his maiden victory at Monza, had languished in the lower reaches of the top ten after suffering a fall early on, but jumped to the top with a 1min 39.898secs aboard the PTR CBR600RR with his final effort.

That was just enough to edge out local favourite Roberto Tamburini, who gave WSS debutants Team Lorini their best showing of the season in second position.

Broc Parkes and Sam Lowes followed in third and fourth to make it a Honda lock-out of the top four positions, though Cluzel's best lap remains a second down on Lowes's provisional pole-setting lap.

Series leader Kenan Sofuoglu led the Kawasaki charge in fifth position, ahead of Massimo Roccoli, the Italian getting well acquainted with the Yakhnich Yamaha having made the switch to the Russian-based team for this round.

Cluzel's team-mate Ronan Quarmby lifted himself to seventh late on, pushing back wild-card rider Stefano Cruciani, Valentin Debise and Fabien Foret to eighth, ninth and tenth respectively.
