Sam Lowes will start the sixth round of the 2012 World Supersport Championship from pole position for the fourth time this season after his Friday best proved enough to see off his rivals in Q2.
The Englishman held down the overnight top spot after setting a time of 1min 38.987secs, a marker that neither he nor his rivals would surpass over the course of the 45-minute Q2 session.
Even so, his PTR counterpart Jules Cluzel would certainly get close to overhauling him from pole position, the Frenchman's best effort leaving him just 0.012secs shy of getting the better of his fellow Honda rider.
Joining them on the front row will be experienced riders Kenan Sofuoglu on the DeltaFin Kawasaki and 2011 Misano race winner Broc Parkes on the Ten Kate Honda, the duo improving their times but slipping to third and fourth on the grid.
Six years after taking his one and only WSS victory at Misano, Massimo Roccoli starts from his best grid position of the year aboard the Yakhnich Yamaha, a bike he is only riding this weekend in place of the injured Vladimir Leonov.
He will share the second row with Fabien Foret on the Intermoto Kawasaki, PTR Honda's Ronan Quarmby and Sheridan Morais on the second of the DeltaFIn Kawasaki's, the South African jumping to eighth after failing to set a time during Q1.
Wild-card rider Stefano Cruciani will start his home race from ninth position, ahead of countrymen Roberto Tamburini, Vittorio Iannuzzo and Alex Baldolini.
Further back, former 125GP World Champion Gabor Talmacsi will make his WSS debut from 21st position on the grid.
