Lorenzo Baroni will head into the final Superstock 1000 qualifying session with a view to snatching pole position after claiming the fastest lap time of the weekend during FP2 at Motorland Aragon.

The Italian, who is still searching for his first win at SSTK 1000 level, stopped the clocks at 2mins 02.223secs, some five tenths faster than Sylvain Barrier's provisional pole position marker from Friday.

The lap was also enough to put Baroni a comfortable four tenths up on nearest challenger Jeremy Guarnoni on the MRS Kawasaki, while Barrier held down third with a similar time to that of his 'pole position' effort.

Having struggled to get on terms with its BMW and Kawasaki rivals so far this weekend, Ducati found some improvements overnight, with Eddi La Marra going fourth on the Barni Ducati 1199 Panigale, though his team-mate and fellow title contender Lorenzo Savadori was still only 11th best.

Bryan Staring completed the top five on the Pedercini Kawasaki, ahead of Marco Bussolotti on the SK Energy Ductai 1098R, Markus Reiterberger and Fabio Massei, while Ducati riders Kev Coghlan and Ondrej Jezek rounded out the top ten.
