Fresh from his second World Supersport win of the season at Motorland Aragon, Sam Lowes has picked up where he left off at Brno by posting the fastest time in first free practice.

The Bogdanka PTR Honda rider, who is competing on effective 'home' soil for his Polish-backed team this weekend, struck to the top of the timesheets with 20 minutes of the session remaining, his effort of 2mins 04.316secs proving enough to keep his rivals a comfortable margin behind him.

Ten Kate Racing's Broc Parkes headed up the challenge in second position three tenths adrift, while Jules Cluzel made it a Honda 1-2-3 in third place.

Fabien Foret led the Kawasaki charge in fourth, the Frenchman keen to give his Czech-based Intermoto Step team another strong result on home soil after its maiden WSS victory with Gino Rea last season, while championship leading Kenan Sofuoglu proved his recent knee operation isn't hampering him so much as he went fifth best.

Looking to rediscover the form that had him on the podium earlier this season, Vladimir Leonov was an encouraging sixth best on the Yakhnich Yamaha, ahead of Ronan Quarmby and Gabor Talmacsi, the former 125GP champion continuing his ascension through the WSS order.

Sheridan Morais was ninth best, ahead of wild-card entrants Stefano Cruciani on the Puccetti Kawasaki and Stefan Kerschbaumer on his eponymous Yamaha.

Further back, Martin Jessopp was the only rider to suffer a tumble as he could only manage 25th best, while former BSB rider and WSS returnee Florian Marino was 27th fastest with all-new team MSD R-N Kawasaki.
