Jeremy Guarnoni has manoeuvred himself into the provisional Superstock 1000 pole position spot at Silverstone after striking at the right time during first qualifying.

The Frenchman, who has been in excellent form since switching to MRS Kawasaki, made the most of the gradually improving track conditions following an earlier downpour to put more than two seconds between himself and countryman Sylvain Barrier in second.

Indeed, with big gaps between lap times throughout the field as timing became crucial to final position, eight seconds would eventually cover the top ten riders.

Currently, Barni Ducati's championship leader Eddi La Marra and SSTK returnee Leandro Mercado on the Pedercini Kawasaki round out the front row, just ahead of Ondrej Jezek and Kev Coghlan on their respective 1098R and 1199 Panigale Ducatis.

Matthieu Lussiana currently lies a competitive seventh on his ASPI Kawasaki, ahead of Lorenzo Savadori, local favourite Robbie Brown and Marco Bussolotti.

Elsewhere, Aragon and Brno race winner Bryan Staring is a provisional 14th, just behind another of the weekend's fancied riders, 12th place man Lorenzo Baroni.
