Sam Lowes says he was pleased to reduce Kenan Sofuoglu's advantage in the 2012 World Supersport Championship standings, despite falling just two corners short of victory at Silverstone.
The Bogdanka PTR Honda rider led his home event from almost start-to-finish, but a last lap pass by PTR counterpart Jules Cluzel would demote him to second place.
Despite this, with Sofuoglu finishing down the order in fifth place after making an error early on in the race, Lowes has chipped his advantage in the standings down to 14 points with four races remaining.
"The track wasn't in perfect conditions but it was dry and it was nice to have a dry conditions for my home race. I went to the front and tried to do the best job that I could.
“I knew Jules was behind but I just did my thing. He passed me on the last lap and beat me but second is good for the Championship and we know we did a decent job all weekend.
“Big thanks to my team for giving me a fantastic bike as always. I know they'll keep doing it for the rest of the year and I'm looking forward to the next round in Russia. I'm a racer and I always aim to win, so bring on Moscow."
