Jeremy Guarnoni and Sylvain Barrier will head into qualifying for the final round of the 2012 FIM Superstock 1000 Championship as the favourites for pole position as they continued to dominate proceedings at Magny-Cours.

The French pair have been notably quicker than their rivals around their home venue so far this weekend, with MRS Kawasaki rider Guarnoni proving quicker than provisional pole sitter - and title contender - Barrier during the second free practice session.

Bryan Staring, who is mathematically in with a shot of the title as well, progressed to third fastest on the Pedercini Kawasaki, ahead of Markus Reiterberger and Matthieu Lussiana, the ASPI Kawasaki rider making it three Frenchman inside the top five.

Wild-card rider Greg Gildenhuys continued his impressive form to be sixth fastest, ahead of Barrier's closest title rival Eddi La Marra, the Italian struggling to get on the pace of his championship rival ahead of their last race showdown.

Christoffer Bergman, Lorenzo Savadori and Leandro Mercado rounded out the top ten.
