Sam Lowes says he cannot wait to start the 2013 World Supersport Championship after impressing during pre-season testing at Jerez with new employers Yakhnich Motorsport.

The British rider, who enters into his third season of WSS competition in 2013 having spent two seasons riding for PTR Honda, has made a switch to Russian outfit Yakhnich Yamaha as he looks to mount a convincing title challenge.

Though this will only be Yakhnich's second year at WSS level, Lowes proves competitive during testing at Jerez, going second fastest despite suffering a fall towards the end of the day.

Pleased with his transition to the Yamaha YZF-R6, Lowes - who was only a tenth slower than pace setter Kenan Sofuoglu - is now looking ahead to the start of the season in less than a month's time.

"I'm really happy about the results," he said. "The bike is really fast and it was easy for me to get into a fast rhythm without pushing too much... I really want to go as soon as possible to Australia so I can start the season with this good feeling!"
