MV Agusta pair Rolfo and Iddon make progress at Phillip Island

'I'm lacking a bit of experience on the world championship but not the will to push as much as I can' - Christian Iddon
ParkinGO MV Agusta riders Roberto Rolfo and World Supersport rookie Christian Iddon pitted their works-backed F3 675s against their rivals for the first time at Phillip Island.

While both riders acknowledge that much hard work lies ahead as they continue the development of the iconic Italian marque's new World Supersport racers, Rolfo and Iddon made a respectable start to the campaign during the official test in Australia.

British rider Iddon fared better of the pair as he set the 19th fastest time overall in 1m 34.935s, just under two seconds slower than pacesetter Sam Lowes benchmark lap on the Yakhnich Yamaha.

“I'm quite happy on my debut. I'm lacking a bit of experience on the world championship but not the will to push as much as I can,” he said.

“I have ridden with the best and that was an experience I had to go through; now I just have to wait for the weekend to manage the race the best I can.”

Experienced Italian Rolfo was 24th, managing a fastest lap of 1m 35.213s.

“We have done as many laps as we could,” he said.

“We have a hard job ahead developing the bike but we are going forward step by step.

“Even the technical problem we had on the last session is a step we have to go through.

“Only working hard we will understand how much development we have to do and what direction to take to get the first results.”

MV Agusta's arrival, coupled to a privateer Suzuki effort run by Suriano Racing, means six manufacturers will be represented full-time in the World Supersport Championship for the first time since 1999.
