Sylvain Barrier will take a seven tenths of a second advantage into final qualifying for the fourth round of the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup at Portimao after easily pacing Q1.
Having dominated FP1, Barrier was again the rider to beat in provisional qualifying as he swept to the top of the timesheets immediately before lowering his best to 1min 45.881secs.
Placing him seven tenths clear of the opposition, Monza racer winner Lorenzo Savadori leads the chasing pack in second position aboard the Pedercini Kawasaki, ahead of ZX-10R counterpart Jeremy Guarnoni on the MRS-prepared machine.
Following his fall in FP1, Eddi La Marra was back up to speed in Q1 with a run to fourth, ahead of Leandro Mercado, Matthieu Lussiana and championship leader Niccolo Canepa.
Elsewhere, Romain Lanusse – who was third fastest in FP1 – failed to set a time in Q1 after suffering with technical issues.
