Damian Cudlin and David McFadden have been announced as part of PTR Honda's team for the World Supersport Championship's inaugural visit to the Istanbul Park Circuit in Turkey in place of Matt Davies and David Linortner.
Australian racer Cudlin has spent his season competing in the German-based IDM Superbike Championship – where he is currently classified third overall with two rounds remaining – and the World Endurance Championship, but will swap his BMW Superbike for Honda Supersport machine this weekend after being called up to replace countryman Davies.
McFadden, meanwhile, takes over from Linortner – who was injured in a car crash two weeks ago – as he looks to make an impression on the Supersport stage having made sporadic appearances with various teams in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup this year.
“This is a great opportunity for me to ride in World Supersport,” he said. “This is like a dream come true, I'm really excited to be on the CBR600RR, a bike that has given me much success in South Africa and one I'm very comfortable on. The fact that it is a new circuit for everyone levels the playing field.
“Friday first free practice is a long session; this gives me time to find my feet with the new bike. I would like to thank Team Honda PTR for this opportunity and will give it my all in Istanbul.”
Cudlin and McFadden join Luca Marconi, Nacho Calero Perez and recent newcomer Danny Webb in the Simon Buckmaster-helmed team.
