Lorini Honda has announced that standout rookie rider Riccardo Russo will join its team for the 2014 World Supersport Championship.
Making his category debut in 2013 during a part-season campaign with Puccetti Kawasaki, Russo proved something of a revelation on several occasions, most notably at Monza when he was involved in an exciting four-way victory battle with Sam Lowes, Lorenzo Zanetti and Florian Marino.
Picking up four top six finishes by the end of the season, Russo has already firmed his plans for 2014 by penning a deal with Lorini Honda, which ran CBR600RR's for Alex Baldolini,, Roberto Tamburini and Raffaele de Rosa over the course of 2013.
"I signed the deal with Team Lorini two weeks ago, few days before flying to Jerez for testing" he said/ "I felt immediately comfortable on the Honda, it's a much smoother bike compared to the one I rode last year and I was able to be pretty quick straight away. I'm very confident for 2014 and I would like to thank the team, sponsors and Honda Italy for the opportunity."
