Jack Kennedy could be forced to skip the opening round of the 2014 World Supersport Championship at Phillip Island after fracturing his ankle in an accident during testing.
The Irishman, who joins the PTR-prepared CIA Insurance Honda team for his second season in the WSS series, had been looking strong on the CBR600RR when he fell during the closing stages of the afternoon session.
Transferred to hospital for x-rays on a suspected broken ankle, Kennedy – who was still classified as fourth fastest at the end of the first day - has since confirmed via Twitter
that he has indeed suffered a fracture and will undergo an operation.
Should Kennedy be unable to compete in Australia, PTR will still be represented by three riders, with Nacho Calero on the second CIA Insurance-backed bike, while Ratthapark Wilairot and Raffaele de Rosa will ride the Core PTR machine.
