Michael van der Mark has kicked off his home round of the 2014 World Supersport Championship in style by topping first free practice at Assen.
The Dutchman was the dominant force in the session, lapping the TT circuit in 1min 38.989secs aboard the local Ten Kate Racing-helmed PATA Honda team, to lead his rivals by almost half a second.
Kenan Sofuoglu followed in second position on the MAHI India Kawasaki, with Jules Cluzel recovering from an off-track moment to turn in the third best lap for the Yakhnich MV Agusta outfit.
After a disappointing race day at Aragon, PJ Jacobsen – who finished on the Assen BSB podium last year – was fourth best on the Intermoto Kawasaki, ahead of Jack Kennedy and Lorenzo Zanetti.
Florian Marino, WSS series leader Kev Coghlan and Ratthapark Wilairot completed the top ten.
