Ondrej Jezek has established himself as the early rider to beat in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup class at Assen after topping both free practice sessions.

One of the title favourites aboard the factory-assisted Barni Ducati, Jezek is playing catch up to team-mate Leandro Mercado after failing to score last time out at Motorland Aragon – in stark contrast to his race winning counterpart -, but started his weekend off well with the top time in both sessions.

Going four tenths clear in FP2, Jezek headed up leading Kawasaki rider Lorenzo Savadori, with Mercado a full eight tenths behind in third position.

Benefiting from local knowledge, Dutchman Kevin Valk was an impressive fourth on the MTM Kawasaki, ahead of Fabio Massei on the EAB Ducati.

Romain Lanusse ends the day in sixth overall, ahead of Pedercini team-mate Simone Grotzkyj, while Matthieu Lussiana, Remo Castellarin and Robert Muresan on the H-Moto BMW round out the top ten.
