Beaten by Michael VD Mark in the morning session, Kenan Sofuoglu turned the tables at the end of Free Practice 2 for the Donington Park World Supersport round.
Dutchman VD Mark, a debut winner in his home event earlier this year, kept his Pata Honda on top for most of the afternoon, beating his FP1 time by 0.4s in the process.
Following spots of rain during the middle of the session, Mahi Kawasaki's Sofuoglu made late progress - taking second from home rider Kev Coghlan and then pipping VD Mark by 0.117s on his penultimate lap of the day.
DMC Yamaha's Coghlan gained one position over his morning ranking to compete a top three covered by a mere 0.144s with Florian Marino, tied with VD Mark for the title lead, in fourth (+0.372s) for Intermoto Kawasaki.
VD Mark's team-mate Lorenzo Zanetti, Jack Kennedy (CIA Insurance Honda), Roberto Tamburini (Puccetti Kawasaki) Kennedy's team-mate Raffaele de Rosa and MV Agusta's Jules Cluzel filled the remainder of the top ten places.
Cluzel (+0.975s) was the only rider in the top 14 not to improve during the afternoon session.
