Barni Ducati duo Ondrej Jezek and Leandro Mercado have set the pace in first free practice for the fifth round of the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup at Portimao, Portugal.

Czech rider Jezek emerged quickest in the session, usurping team-mate and championship leader Mercado from the top spot in the closing stages to snatch the initiative from his fellow Ducati rider.

Kyle Smith was an encouraging third quickest on the Racedays Honda, the British rider leading Fabio Massei, Matthieu Lussiana and Misano race winner Lorenzo Savadori.

Josh Day, David McFadden, Federico Sandi and Romain Lanusse rounded out the top ten, with Riccardo Russo 11th in his first session aboard the Pedercini Kawasaki, the former World Supersport rider moving to Superstock after a Superbike outing with the Italian team at Misano.
