Kenan Sofuoglu has ended the first day of World Supersport action at Portimao with the fastest time after minimal improvements occurred during a scorching second practice session.
High temperatures around the Algarve venue ensured the fastest times of the day would come from FP1, with nearly every rider unchanged on the combined end-of-day timesheets. It meant Sofuoglu's earlier effort of 1min 46.400secs would allow him to remain in first position for the MAHI Kawasaki team.
Second place Michael van der Mark got closer with a slight gain to 1min 46.439secs – the fastest lap of the session itself -, but it wasn't enough to haul the championship leader any higher.
Beyond him, the order would remain unchanged down to tenth place, with Jules Cluzel, Jack Kennedy – who suffered a fall at turn three – Kev Coghlan, Lorenzo Zanetti, Massimo Roccoli, Roberto Rolfo and Raffaele de Rosa sticking in third down to ninth place respectively.
Rounding out the top ten with a slight improvement was Florian Marino on the Intermoto Kawasaki.
