Lorenzo Savadori will start on pole position for the second FIM Superstock 1000 Cup race in a row after overcoming Ducati's advantage at Portimao.

The Pedercini Kawasaki rider had spent the weekend playing second fiddle to the Barni Ducatis of Leandro Mercado and Ondrej Jezek coming into qualifying, but would usurp both as he turned in a lap time of 1min 46.802secs.

It was enough to put Savadori – a winner last time out at Misano - a tenth ahead of championship leader Mercado in second, while Kyle Smith made it three different manufacturers on the front row in third position.

Title contender Jezek heads up row two, ahead of Kawasaki duo David McFadden and Romain Lanusse, while Josh Day, Assen winner Kevin Valk, Federico D'Annunzio and Federico Sandi round out the top ten.
